The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) branch in Wilmslow town centre is among 32 branches set to close in 2022 across the RBS and NatWest group.
The branch on Water Lane is set to close on 22nd June 2022 as the wider banking group looks to reduce its high street presence as more customers shift to managing their finances online.
A spokesperson for the NatWest Group explained:
“As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking, because it’s faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives.
“We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no one is left behind.
“We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them.”
Customers affected by the closure of the Wilmslow branch will be notified by the bank and RBS will launch a new postal cash and delivery service nationwide for its most vulnerable customers. Following the branch closure, the nearest alternative locations for customers will be Macclesfield and Manchester city centre.
