Cheshire East Council has begun a programme of road repairs and improvements across the borough this summer, with a total of 16 miles of highways treated or resurfaced this year.
The council’s road improvement programme, which includes carriageway patching, surface treatment and full resurfacing, began on 16 July. Work is carried out during the summer months as more clement weather conditions make delays less likely,
This summer’s repairs programme focuses on the stretches of road across the borough that are most used and at greatest risk and will be coordinated to minimise disruption at peak times.
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said:
The programme will improve some of the key sections of highway network and this will naturally cause some disruption and inconvenience, for which we apologise in advance. We would ask drivers to be patient and please plan ahead.”
The programme of works is prioritised in line with a defined scoring criteria, which can be found on the council’s website. The council also provide a roadworks tracker tool to help drivers plan their journeys.
