Macclesfield-based Spectrum Ophthalmics has appointed Michelle Jackson as hospital business manager and premium intraocular lens (IOL) specialist.
In her new role Michelle will be responsible for driving sales of Spectrum’s range of ophthalmic products and services with hospitals and eye care clinics across the North-west, building relationships with clinicians and those involved with procurement and product selection.
With in-depth knowledge of intraocular lenses (IOLs), Michelle attends operating theatres and clinics to provide expert advice and support for lens implantations, equipment usage and training.
Michelle has clear aspirations for her new role, determined to increase awareness of Spectrum’s products and services, and specifically the distributor’s market-leading range of advanced IOL technologies which make life changing differences to patients with impaired vision. She commented:
“I have worked in ophthalmology for many years and always admired Spectrum’s approach; by putting the patient at the forefront of its business model, it is able to develop products and services that make a huge difference to the lives of patients, something that we hear everyday from surgeons following the implantation of a lens from our wide range of IOLs from leading manufacturers.”
Prior to joining Spectrum, Michelle worked for a UK IOL manufacturer for more than 10 years gaining valuable knowledge and experience in a variety of roles including territory manager and advanced technology specialist. She has also worked in a sales role at an American multinational medical organisation and within pharmaceuticals, and holds a First Class Masters Degree in Biomedical Materials Science from UMIST. She achieved her ABPI qualification while working in the pharmaceuticals industry.
Managing director at Spectrum Ophthalmics, David Killingrey, said:
“It is a pleasure to welcome Michelle to the team, she brings a wealth of experience with her and I am confident that she will excel in her new role.”
