On 8th July, Rishi Sunak revealed a temporary stamp duty holiday for homes under £500,000, as well as reduced rates for investment properties and second homes under the scheme in a bid to restart the property market after the coronavirus pandemic.

Stamp duty relief formed part of a range of measures announced by Rishi Sunak on the 8th July, including a temporary reduction in VAT for the hospitality sector and investment in youth unemployment.
