A courageous team of four colleagues from Cheshire law firm SAS Daniels have taken on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in aid of the firm’s Charity of the Year, Stockport and District Mind.
After camping out and rising for a 4.30am wake up, the quartet battled through adverse weather conditions to raise almost £1,500 for the charity, with one team member even conquering the 24-mile route and 1,585 metres of ascent in 11 hours and 46 minutes.
The impressive feat marks the latest fundraising effort undertaken by the firm for Stockport and District Mind. It follows a donation made by SAS Daniels towards the creation of a Tuesday allotment club to support those dealing with mental health problems, and a collaboration with the charity during Mental Health Awareness Week in May during which SAS Daniels’ employees benefited from a complimentary mindfulness session delivered by the Stockport and District Mind team.
Stockport and District Mind is an independent mental health charity that provides information and advice, Carer’s support and a number of groups to support adults experiencing mental health problems and their loved ones residing in Stockport and the adjacent Cheshire area. The charity enables and empowers individuals to live with, manage and where possible recover from their condition, as well as supporting their family, friends and carers.
Louise Gresty, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Stockport and District Mind said:
“We would like to thank the fab-four at SAS Daniels who took this challenge on in aid of us! We know this has challenged them both physically and mentally, especially having to brave the elements of the British weather! We would also like to thank the wider SAS Daniels organisation massively for supporting our local charity. Whilst we are affiliated with National Mind, we are an independent charity in our own right and we are entirely reliant on raising our own funds, so this means so much to us. We can guarantee every penny raised will be going back to support mental health within our community.”
Jeremy Orrell, chief executive officer at SAS Daniels, commented:
“The team have worked incredibly hard to prepare for their endeavour and we are very proud of their efforts championing a vital cause. Each year through our work with our nominated charity, we strive to have a positive impact on the areas that we serve. Stockport and District Mind provides invaluable support for those struggling with mental health issues, and fundraising for the organisation contributes to the wellbeing of our community by helping ensure that individuals receive the help they need.”
