Law firm, SAS Daniels LLP, which has offices in Macclesfield, Chester, Stockport and Congleton, has acted on behalf of Crewe-based software company, Force Information Systems (FIS) in an acquisition by a Canadian group.
FIS, which provides custom software solutions for the police service, has been bought by Canada’s N Harris Computer Corporation via a subsidiary, Acceo Solutions Ltd.
FIS’s products include Centurion, used by 96% of UK police forces for case recording, management reporting and maintaining standards data. The acquisition will add to Harris’ existing market leadership in critical software for the public safety, healthcare and utility sectors.
Martin O’Reilly, Director of FIS, announced the deal today, saying:
We’re incredibly proud of the 31-years that FIS has successfully traded. Under Harris, FIS will continue to accelerate its growth ambitions and develop its range of advanced software solutions further.”
Paul Tyrer, Partner in the Corporate team at SAS Daniels, added:
Despite the uncertain economic backdrop, we remain very busy acting on a number of successful deals. The technology sector, in particular, is seeing a lot of interest from overseas buyers who are viewing the North West as an attractive area to invest.”
Harris, which has 3,600 staff across Europe and North America, was represented by London based firm, Fox Williams LLP in the acquisition.
FIS was established in 1988 specifically to work on software for the police service. Other projects have included credit card fraud for some of the major banks, as well as providing intelligence systems to the Royal Mail and various charities.
