Cheshire law firm, SAS Daniels, has revealed it has raised over £5,000 over the course of 2025 for its chosen charity of the year, Space4Autism.
Space4Autism is a UK charity that supports autistic children, young people and adults, as well as their families. The charity provides a range of services and activities designed to create safe, inclusive spaces, promote understanding of autism, and support individuals to reach their potential within the community. The total was raised through a wide range of colleague-led fundraising activities held throughout the year, with employees coming together across the firm to support the charity.
One of the key activities was Blue for Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, which focused on improving understanding of autism within the firm. Staff were encouraged to wear something blue and take part in a programme of learning throughout the day. Information was shared on why the colour blue is associated with autism awareness, alongside guidance on the impact of sugar on individuals with autism. To support this, staff received sugar-free sweets accompanied by information materials.
Colleagues also took part in a number of physical and community-based challenges designed to encourage participation and teamwork. March for March, which kickstarted the firm’s annual fundraising programme, saw participants spend the month collectively walking the equivalent distance of climbing the world’s three highest mountains – K2, Kanchenjunga and Everest. Employees also participated in Macclesfield’s historic ‘Beat the Bounds’ hike, combining a long-standing local tradition with fundraising in support of the charity.
Staff in the Macclesfield office celebrated their office Christmas dinner at the Space4Autism premises. The charity supplied their own chef and staff for the occasion and provided a fabulous three-course meal complete with silent crackers to remind attendees of the sensory challenges faced by the autistic community.
Additional fundraising activities held during the year included an Easter raffle, name the ostrich competition, Grand National sweepstake, sunflower growing competition, a table tennis tournament, Office Olympics, two themed cake bakes and a Christmas raffle. In addition, many clients opted to donate small balances held on our client account following completion of their matter.
Jeremy Orrell, chief executive officer at SAS Daniels, commented:
“Supporting Space4Autism over the past year has been important to the firm, and the fundraising total is the result of consistent effort from colleagues across all teams. Alongside raising funds, there has been a strong focus on improving understanding and awareness of autism, which has been a valuable part of the programme. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the work Space4Autism carries out in the local community.”
