Macclesfield-based design agency, Nexer Digital, is celebrating a year of growth and expansion as it marks its 17th birthday.
The human-centred agency has achieved its highest revenues since it was founded, reporting £10.5 million in 2023, up 12% year-on-year. Profits have also held firm, even with a boost in headcount – up from 90 in 2023, to 112 this year.
Recent hires include Elina Ventere, who joined from AbilityNet as a Senior Accessibility Consultant, bolstering capability in Nexer’s accessibility team. Rachel Breeze, a Microsoft and Umbraco MVP, has also been promoted to lead the software development team, driving growth through key technology partnerships.
Also key to its growth, Nexer Digital, which has UK presences in Macclesfield and Cambridge, expanded overseas in 2023. It added teams in India and Colombia to meet the growing demand for its 24/7 support and optimisation services.
Hilary Stephenson, managing director of Nexer Digital, said:
“Many of our clients serve global markets and their customers have expectations that extend beyond traditional business hours. Our investment in building out affordable, trusted services that run 24/7, 365 days a year, has allowed us to re-imagine our delivery squads, with people aligned to our projects in Colombia, Sweden and India, as well as throughout the UK. As inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, our investment in key technology partnerships positions us well to support customers with the challenges and opportunities they will face with the upcoming European Accessibility Awareness Act in 2025.”
Looking ahead, she added:
“We are seeing the benefits of our strategy coming to fruition. Next, we plan to leverage our expertise in accessibility to make workplaces more inclusive and productive for people typically denied access to work or struggling with inadequate tools, processes and communication. The company will focus on inclusive, ethical and user-friendly approaches to new technology, including AI through Microsoft Copilot, challenging poor usability and resource consumption in workplace tools to make digital work life more accessible and sustainable.”
To celebrate its 17th birthday, Nexer Digital will host celebrations at its annual digital, design and UX conference, Camp Digital, which is taking place in Manchester on 8th May. The event will bring together industry experts to discuss important considerations in the industry, from exclusion and bias to building more inclusive digital services.
