North West Net Zero Hub launches new website to share region’s decarbonisation success stories

May 22, 2023

North West to develop UK's first regional Net Zero Skills plan

The North West Net Zero Hub has announced the launch of a new website that will highlight stories of progress towards decarbonisation from across the region.

The organisation has gathered 69 case studies from across Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside, featuring successful projects demonstrating the potential success of decarbonising and living more sustainability, from community-led initiatives, businesses, and major infrastructure projects.

The North West Route to Net Zero website will launch on 25th May, helping to further promote the shift to net zero CO2 emissions in the North West.

The website will be continually updated with further case studies uploaded on a regular basis with the aim of creating a central digital home for inspiring green stories from across the region. Organisations from across the region are also being invited to make use of the website to share any ‘carbon stories’ they would like to see reach a wider audience in the region.

In addition to case studies, the North West Route to Net Zero website will also feature nine videos as part of work commissioned by the North West Net Zero Hub during the COP26 climate change summit in 2021.

Head of Regional Programme at the North West Net Zero Hub, James Johnson, said:

“The launch of our North West Route to Net Zero website is an important day for the Hub as we aim to share some of the examples of best practice within decarbonisation and sustainability from across the region.

“We believe that the 69 case studies and 9 videos will give a good flavour of the work being done across key areas for net-zero such as the circular economy, energy, transport and much more.

“Supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the NWNZ Hub will regularly update the website to include case studies which reflect new challenges and solutions in the face of an ever-changing environmental landscape as we race to becoming zero carbon by 2050.”

The new website and case studies will launch on 25th May via this link.
