Nexer Digital, the human-centred digital design and development agency, is celebrating another year of success, reaching its highest level of turnover and headcount in its 15-year history.
In the past 12 months, Nexer Digital has undertaken significant research and design work in the public sector, increased demand for accessibility related work and expanded its technical team, through its partnership support to Umbraco and Optimizely.
The increase in demand for work across all its service areas has moved the Macclesfield-based agency towards a turnover of £10 million. It plans to reinvest in its service development, industry initiatives, events, and important partnerships.
Nexer Digital has increased its core headcount by 69%, to 76 people. The business has welcomed new members across its development, content design and UX teams. The agency often works with members of the team from other business areas across the Nexer Group in Sweden, Poland, and Ukraine, taking its headcount beyond 100, on some projects. It has also extended its 24/7 service desk adding to its teams in Nexer India and Colombia.
In a year of firsts, Nexer Digital has developed and launched its sustainability strategy, its social values commitments, a partnership with Diverse and Equal, and welcomes the return of Camp Digital UX and design conference at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Hilary Stephenson, managing director at Nexer Digital, commented,
“We are continually challenging ourselves to improve our practices and the work we do, and in-turn this has a direct impact on the world that so many people interact with. Over the past 12 months I believe we have done just that, and there’s even more to come.
“After researching, hacking, and exploring the subjects as a group, we have been able to share our current progress and plans for improving sustainability, our social values and commitments, and tackle topics that are important to us and our clients, such as communications within the healthcare sector.
“Looking ahead, we plan to continue the good work we’ve done to date and build on our internal practices and design systems to ensure consistency across the team. These systems and training will support further growth as we continue to develop our service offerings and expand.”
Nexer Digital plans to launch its own inclusive language guide, a project led by the internal content team and inspired by NHS Digital, Scope, and Emma Parnell at Joy. It will also continue its partnership with Diverse and Equal, following the bootcamp which led the agency to hiring eight new starters.
Within the health sector, Nexer Digital launched its first #LettersHack event, inviting clinicians, patients, and vendors to explore the experiences of primary care communications and how to improve them. It also completed projects looking at primary care platforms, virtual wards, and patient-held records for Health Innovation Manchester. Nexer Digital also supported NeuroResponse to build a new service that enables people with MS to have free, quick, and easy 24/7 access to clinicians.
Following his headline keynote at Camp Digital 2022, renowned sustainability expert Gerry McGovern supported Nexer Digital in devising its sustainability strategy to raise awareness and improve the environmental impact of digital. Sustainability remains a key focus for the business, with projects taking place throughout the year with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and NCC Group.
