The stadium tour at Ireland’s iconic Aviva Stadium has undergone a revamp, thanks to the handiwork of leading design consultancy, Mather & Co.
The North West-based firm, which specialises in museum, leisure, retail and entertainment experiences, was tasked with enhancing the existing stadium tour, with a new interpretation along the route guests take, as well as creating a cohesive branded look and feel to the visitor journey.
Sarah Clarke, managing director of Mather & Co, said: “It has been a pleasure to work on such an exciting project, and with a stadium that has such a rich past. With over 146 years of Irish sporting history, it’s unlike any other sporting ground in Ireland – home to both the Irish football and rugby national teams.
“The main challenge with the project was twofold – to showcase the amazing history and heritage of both sports (football and rugby), in a balanced and harmonious way, whilst maintaining its position as one of the must-visit destinations in Dublin.”
Aviva Stadium prides itself on being a unique, world-class international stadium – an outstanding venue for football, rugby, concerts and conferences, providing a top-class experience for customers, players, coaches, media, commercial partners and staff.
Sarah added: “We worked with both federations to develop new interpretative installations in the service tunnel, players’ entrance, pitch entrance, press area, press conference suite, photographers’ room, press reception and corridor spaces along the route to guide visitors to the next part of the tour.”
In addition, Mather & Co also developed a new, dynamic film in the press conference suite, to capture the true spectacle and emotion of the international sport that takes place at the stadium.
Martin Murphy, stadium director at Aviva Stadium, said: “We are really pleased with the end product and would like to thank everyone involved in the project. It has been a pleasure working with Mather & Co’s team – their designers did a brilliant job, and the installation team was excellent.
“We look forward to the next chapter of the stadium tours, which we hope will enrich the experience of fans and players visiting the stadium. We hope to offer visitors a glimpse of the rich history of the stadium, which is home to such amazing sports matches and competitions.”
