Manchester Airport Group (MAG) has continued to exceed record passenger numbers during the summer 2024 season at both Manchester and London Stansted airports.
The group, which also operates East Midlands Airport near Nottingham, saw nearly 7 million passengers travel through its three UK sites in August 2024, a 6.6% increase on 2023 numbers. Across the July-August peak season, more than 13 million passengers started their trips from a MAG airport.
August was Manchester Airport’s busiest ever month on record, serving 3.4 million passengers, which was up 8.8% on August 2023.
London Stansted also recorded its busiest ever month with 3.1 million passengers flying through its terminal, while rolling 12 month traffic figures from across the group revealed 63.4 million journeys have been taken from MAG airports in the year to the end of August 2024.
Operational performance across the Group also remained strong throughout August, with 100% of passengers at East Midlands Airport passing through security in 15 minutes or less. At London Stansted the figure was at 99%, and at Manchester Airport it was 98%.
Ken O’Toole, MAG CEO, said:
“More than 13m passengers travelled through MAG’s three airports over the peak summer holiday, which reflects the excellent choice of destinations we offer to people travelling for all reasons.
“I am proud of the consistently strong operational performance we have delivered throughout the summer, meaning people were able to focus on relaxing and starting their holidays as soon as they set foot in our airports.
“We have live investment programmes in place at all three of our airports, that will deliver improvements and enhance the passenger experience into the future.
“I would like to thank colleagues across MAG for their ongoing hard work to deliver for our passengers.”
