Travel through the airport has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and Manchester Airport is currently operating only from Terminal 1. MAG is partly owned by Greater Manchester’s local authorities, which have contributed £250 million to the company to ensure its survival as travel restrictions and quarantines on arrival have led to a sharp decline in passenger numbers.
MAG CEO, Charlie Cornish, has described a 14 day quarantine for arrivals to the UK as a ‘brick wall’ to economic recovery for tourism and aviation.
