Manchester Airports Group (MAG) saw 5.2 million passengers fly through its three UK airports in April 2024, with Manchester and London Stansted airports both welcoming record traffic as the peak summer season begins.
Across the group, which operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, passenger numbers were at 101% of their pre-pandemic peak in April 2019. Compared to April 2023, passenger volumes rose 8%.
Manchester Airport served over 2.4 million passengers, an increase of 10.9% on the previous April and 101% of the total served in 2019 in another consecutive record-breaking month of traffic.
London Stansted also broke records in April 2024, with just under 2.5 million passengers flying in or out of the airport, 104% of the total served in April 2019 and up 5.5% on its 2023 performance. Post-pandemic recovery at East Midlands Airport also continued with passenger number up 5% on the previous year with 328,000 passing through its terminal.
Operational performance across the Group remains consistently strong, and in March 100% of passengers at all three airports passed through security in 15 minutes or less.
Cargo volumes also continued to grow at MAG airports in April 204, with total tonnage up 20.9% at Manchester Airport, and 23.3% at London Stansted.
