Macclesfield furniture retailer, Arighi Bianchi, has transformed its Victorian store building into a 110f ft high advent calendar to mark the festive season.
Drawing on the building’s existing architecture, the display is the first time the full expanse of the store has been used to create a single Christmas window display. The blue and gold colour scheme also showcase trends seen in the store’s festive collection.
The window display, 110 ft high by 45 ft wide, was the idea of the furniture retailer’s senior graphic designer, Hannah Wilson, who created the display to delight shoppers after the cancellation the Christmas lights switch-on in Macclesfield. Hannah said:
“When I heard that the Macclesfield Christmas lights switch on had been cancelled, I just knew that there was something that we could do to make this year’s festivities extra special for the people of the area – and then I realised how perfectly the store’s iconic windows leant themselves to an advent calendar.
“It is amazing to see my design brought to life on such a magnificent scale. It really does bring a bit of Christmas magic to the town, making people of all ages stop and smile when they see what we have created.”
Nick Bianchi, Director of Arighi Bianchi, said:
“Christmas is such a special time at the store – and with last year’s celebrations being all but cancelled we wanted to do something extra special for the people of the town.
“Outside the windows have been brought to life and it really is special to see the building lit up in this way. Inside we have created our biggest Christmas shop ever – with a huge range of decorations and gift ideas. Having been a fixture of Macclesfield for more than 167 years it feels fitting that we play a role in making Christmas 2021 one to remember.”
