The John Lewis Partnership has begun recruitment for more than 10,000 positions within the John Lewis and Waitrose retail brands and its distribution network.
In total, upcoming vacancies comprise 8,400 seasonal positions to meet Christmas demand, and 1,700 permanent roles.
At Waitrose, the employee-owned retail group will take on more than 2,800 seasonal workers across 329 stores including supermarket assistants, night shift, and customer delivery drivers. In the 34 John Lewis stores, including in Cheshire at its Cheadle location, there are over 2,900 temporary roles in sales and merchandising positions.
Head office staff will also be committing time to supporting shops and supply chain in the lead up to Christmas through the Helping Hands initiative: last year, over 5,300 days work were provided by head office workers.
2,700 seasonal workers are also being sought via partner recruitment agencies in the John Lewis supply chain and distribution network for those placing orders online, including for warehouse operatives and drivers.
Lisa Cherry, Executive Director, People, at the John Lewis Partnership, said:
“We’re hugely proud of the way our two brands have become part of the excitement that surrounds Christmas and this is a great opportunity to be at the heart of that at such a special time. Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do; we want to deliver a great festive season for them with inspirational products and the very best customer service courtesy of our brilliant Partners.”
