Community Matters, the John Lewis Partnership’s flagship charitable giving programme, donates over £2 million annually to local causes and organisations. Supporting local communities is fundamental to their Partnership’s values.
John Lewis Cheadle is also proud of its strong relationships with local charities and community groups, providing vital support through donations of time, money, space, and goods for social impact activities. Their community giving initiatives keeps their customers and Partners at its core, reflecting a commitment to making a positive difference.
Throughout the year, the John Lewis store at Cheadle Royal runs various funding rounds, each focused on a specific theme, ranging from health and wellbeing to nature and the environment. In 2025, Partners at John Lewis Cheadle nominated and selected local causes to receive a total of £12,000.
One such charity to benefit was Stockport Signpost Young Carers who received £1,500 to support their Christmas party celebrations.
Katy Frankland, Young Carers Service Manager at the Heaton Moor based charity, was delighted to receive the donation:
“John Lewis Cheadle has been supporting Stockport Signpost Young Carers for nearly 20 years, including buying us our first minibus, which for 17 years and many thousands of miles, enabled us to transport our young carers to and from their respite groups, on days out and for weekends away.
“We have remained in contact, and the partners have continued to support us, especially at Christmas time; for many years they organised a party in their store and presents, which has been a real treat and experience for our youngest young carers.
“My contact at John Lewis – Jen is always at the end of the phone, if we are having an event and in need of support. John Lewis have also worked in partnership with Signpost to identify adult and working carers by hosting an information point in store. This year’s donation of £1500 really made our Christmas extra special, enabling us to put on parties at the Heatons Centre, and give presents and hampers to young carers most in need. Without such support from businesses and external donations, we would not be able to provide extra support to our young carers, who need respite away from their caring role. It is because of donations that we can support our young carers to reach their full potential.
“Thank you to Jen, Carolyn and all in your organisation for recognising Carers in Stockport.”
