Ethiopian Airlines has announced it will increase its schedule flying between Manchester Airport and Addis Ababa, effective from July 3rd 2025.
The new daily schedule, increasing from five flights per week, will add to travel options and connectivity for passengers flying across Africa via Ethiopian’s network of routes throughout the continent.
Ethiopian is the largest airline in Africa and among the fastest-growing airline brands globally, with more services from Manchester Airport helping to connect the region with Ethiopia itself, among the world’s fastest growing economies, as well as onward destinations for both tourists, business travellers, and the region’s African diaspora. Ethiopian Airlines offers connections to the Seychelles, Nairobi, Harare, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Lusaka, plus many more.
Commenting on the new daily service, Anteneh Fekadu, Ethiopian’s Traffic & Sales Manager in Manchester said:
“We are thrilled to increase our flights from Manchester to daily from July 3, 2025. This new schedule shows our commitment to providing our passengers with more travel and connectivity options. We look forward to welcoming our passengers on board and offering them the exceptional service that Ethiopian Airlines provides.”
The news will be welcomed by more than 35,000 passengers who travel from Manchester to destinations across Africa with Ethiopian Airlines every year. In 2024, more than 5,000 passengers flew from Manchester to Zimbabwe, 4,000 flew to South Africa and 3,000 flew to Kenya – all via a connection in Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Airlines.
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said:
“We are proud of our role in connecting the people of the North to the world, so naturally we’re delighted that Manchester will soon be able to boast daily flights to one of Africa’s largest hub airports. Addis Ababa offers an enviable network of onward connections to every corner of the continent, and now passengers flying from Manchester will be able to travel there with Ethiopian Airlines any day of the week, offering increased flexibility when making their travel plans.
“This is huge news for anyone with friends and family on the continent that they’re planning to visit, and for those from our region who are doing business there – not to mention those wanting to reach some of Africa’s most popular tourist spots like Cape Town, Zanzibar and the Seychelles.”
The flights, which will operate via a brief stopover in either Geneva or Marseille, are to be operated on the A350-Airbus.
