Budget airline, easyJet, has announced a new route from Manchester Airport to Grenoble in South East France, due to begin flying from December 2023.
Dubbed the ‘Capital of the Alps’, Grenoble (pictured) is surrounded by ski resorts and the new route adds an additional destination for winter sports fans from across the North West. Seats are already on sale for the new route, which will take off from 10 December 2023 with a weekly Sunday departure.
The new Grenoble service is among nine new routes easyJet has launched from nine airports across the UK, to destinations ranging across the UK, France, Morocco, Tunisia and Iceland, following the delivery for the airline of an additional A320neo aircraft operating throughout the summer season from Manchester Airport. Compared to the current generation of aircraft, the NEO brings significant improvements in terms of environmental and operational efficiencies: up to 15% less fuel consumption and therefore less CO2 emissions, and 50% less noise during take-off and landing. easyJet is the largest single-brand operator of NEOs in Europe.
The launch of even more new routes from the UK for next winter follows easyJet’s return to growth this summer in the UK which will also see easyJet operate its biggest ever UK summer flying programme, flying around eight per cent more capacity than pre-pandemic and over one million more seats in peak summer and 23 new routes from the UK.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said:
“We are delighted to announce a new route from Manchester to Grenoble today, adding a further winter holiday option for our customers. Sitting at the heart of the Alps It’s known as a base for winter sports, but also offers hiking and outdoor activities and has a collection of museums to explore. We are confident it will be a popular addition to easyJet’s route network from Manchester.
“The addition of the new aircraft at Manchester will also create around 40 local job opportunities and is a symbol of our ongoing commitment to the airport.”
Chris Woodroofe, Managing Director at Manchester Airport, added:
