A network of GP Practices and pharmacies in Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow have set up a Covid-19 testing clinic following support from local businesses.
The CHAW Primary Care Network (PCN) was one of the first in the country to set up a Covid-19 Hot Clinic site to facilitate the assessment of patients with suspected Covid-19 in a safe and efficient manner. The site will be used to expand testing in East Cheshire to include all emergency services workers, including police and fire and rescue services, as well as frontline NHS and care workers.
The PCN had put out a plea for donations and volunteers for support which has enabled them to set-up the clinic.
Kast Renewable Energies, based in Stockport, was one busines to respond to the plea. The team have donated their mobile showroom truck which is now being used as a clinical area in Wilmslow Health Centre car park to facilitate the assessment of suspected Covid-19 patients away from the health centre’s other users.
Senior Aerospace in Poynton have produced face-shields to use when treating patients, and Weetwood Distillery, near Chester, has shifted production to supply WHO Specification hand sanitiser, some of which it has donated to the PCN’s clinic.
Managing Director at Kast Renewable Energies, Kes Scott, said:
[It] felt the right thing to do as a business and help support the NHS as best we can. Our facility has enabled the practices to have a remote isolated area to operate in; safe, secure and zero carbon as the unit is self sufficent and solar powered.“
If you suspect you may have contracted Covid-19, you should contact NHS 111 or book for a test online at an NHS testing centre via the government website here.
