Contractors Laing O’Rourke have completed the main build phase of the Manchester Airport Terminal 2 Extension, marking a major milestone in the transport hub’s ongoing transformation programme.
Manchester Airport Group (MAG) and Laing O’Rourke signed the contract on work two and half years ago. The new look Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport is on schedule to fully open in July 2020.
MAG Programme Delivery Director, Rob Stewart, said:
One year on from the completion of Pier One and the West Multi Storey Car Park, today’s on time milestone achievement represents the culmination of a huge collaborative effort by MAG and our team of experienced delivery partners. Everyone involved should feel extremely proud and the wider community excited about this fabulous facility coming online in July.”
Following Laing O’Rourke’s handover, the extension will go through a range of trials and fit outs before the new look terminal two opens to passengers.
