Armcon, a Cheshire based manufacturer of volumetric mixers, has announced it has become an employee owned business after over 30 years trading.
Ownership of the business passed to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) on February 1st. The firm recently appointed a new MD in January, Sean Warburton, as part of plans to secure the long-term future of the Poynton-based business which designs and builds mixing equipment for the concrete industry.
Founder Robert Armstrong commented:
As part of protecting Armcon’s legacy and propel it into a new, independent era where international markets could be explored, I thought an EOT would be the best route to make that viable.
“Armcon has a brilliant new managing director onboard in addition to an experienced team and I believe Armcon’s future is very bright.”
FDS Director Services assisted Armcon with the transition; MD Poonam Kaur said:
This is a very exciting time for Armcon, and we were thrilled to assist Robert in the company’s transition, whilst being able to share our knowledge and own experiences in EOTs,” she added.
“The employees in the business now have a real opportunity to develop and contribute to the success and longevity of the business whilst having ownership via the EOT.”
The manufacturer received further legal support on the transition to becoming employee owned from Yorkshire-based law firm, Keebles LLP.
