Cheshire East Council has been recognised with Gold accreditation in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Employer Recognition Scheme, highlighting the council’s work to supporting the Armed Forces community.
A Gold award in the prestigious scheme places Cheshire East Council among a select group of fewer than 200 organisations in the UK for their commitments to both supporting veterans into employment directly, and support the wider Armed Forces community and their families.
Cllr Ashley Farrall, Cheshire East Council’s Armed Forces Champion, expressed immense pride in this achievement and said,
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive the Gold Award.
“It’s a testament to the tireless dedication of our team in creating a truly supportive environment for our valued Armed Forces community. Their service and sacrifice are invaluable, and we are committed to ensuring they have access to all the opportunities and resources they deserve.”
The Gold Award acknowledges Cheshire East Council’s exceptional initiatives in areas such as:
- Providing clear employment pathways for veterans and service personnel to transition into successful careers within the council
- Offering a robust network of assistance and support services for veterans and their families, addressing needs related to housing, education, and well-being
- Championing the Armed Forces Covenant and actively encouraging other organisations to follow suit in supporting the Armed Forces community.
The Mayor of Cheshire East and representatives from the council will be presented with the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award at an official event in Liverpool on Thursday 7 November.
