Penelope Cheshire, founder of Handforth based Beauty Works, has been named Best Business Woman in Hair and Beauty at the 2020 Best Business Woman Awards.
In a delayed final that took place online on Friday 19th March, the organisers announced its Gold Winners for 2020. As well as recognising talented and dedicated female entrepreneurs, the awards, which were founded in 2015, also raised £1000 for TIC Box Productions, the Charity Champion Winner in 2019.
Penelope Cheshire (pictured) started her business, Beauty Works, in a small Liverpool-based flat 10 years ago, and, in 2019, sold part of the business to US company, BIG, for £50 million, making her one of the hair industry’s most successful entrepreneurs, with her company now serving 180 international markets. The Handforth based organisation has become one of the world’s most successful beauty brands, selling hair extensions to more than 4000 professional salons worldwide, in addition to consumers and retailers such as ‘Pretty Little Thing’ and ‘Look Fantastic’.
Last month, and for the second year in a row, Beauty Works was also named the winner in the ‘New Hair Styling Hero’ category at The Beauty Awards with ASOS.
Beauty Works’ Operations Manager, Martin Williams, said of his experience working with Penelope Cheshire:
We are extremely proud of Penelope in achieving an award of this stature, and in such a competitive field. Penelope is the very finest ambassador for the industry, she has taken Beauty Works to stratospheric heights, is ‘giving back’ through her charity work, and has provided countless opportunities for young women eager to progress through our organisation. She is ticking every box in terms of what, I believe, a good entrepreneur and female business leader should look like. Penelope is the ultimate ‘all-rounder.’”
