A site manager working at Bellway’s Heatherley Wood development near Alderley Edge has received a prestigious National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job award.
Karl Henshaw (pictured in front of one of the homes on the development) received the award for excellence in the role of on site manager at the Alderley Edge development of four-, five- and six-bedroom homes, surrounded by parkland.
Karl, who has worked for Bellway for over six years, has won the Pride in the Job award once previously.
The NHBC Pride in the Job award, which has been established for over 40 years, recognises and rewards the industry’s very best performers and is an accolade that site managers aspire to achieve.
To receive an award, site managers must score highly in all areas of build and site management including quality of workmanship, technical expertise, health and safety and leadership. Judges are looking for meticulous attention to detail and the special qualities and attributes that set quality award winning site managers apart from the rest.
On receiving this award, Karl said:
It is very rewarding to receive a NHBC Pride in the Job award. It is a long competition carried out throughout the year, so to win the award makes all the hard work worth the effort. It’s a team award really, as everyone on site pulls together to deliver the high quality homes Bellway is renowned for. Winning this award has been a real morale booster on site too!”
Construction director at Bellway, Paul Wright, adds:
Heatherley Wood is a stand-alone site for Bellway with house types exclusively designed for that development. Karl has done an incredible job on site and this award is testament to his excellent standards, professional management style and clear leadership skills. Only 450 site managers across the UK (out of 11,000) are selected to receive a Pride in the Job award, so we are very proud of Karl for this achievement.”
