Alderley Edge based developer, Hall & Co, has revealed plans for a sustainable village community near Henbury on the outskirts of Macclesfield.
Named Flora Henbury, the 2.5 acre development will comprise 14 new homes from one to five bedrooms, as well as a food hall and flexible working space, FarmFolk, to suit post-Covid living. The sustainable community takes its inspiration from Henbury’s agricultural heritage, with ambitions to be carbon-neutral by 2038.
The homes have been designed with boot-rooms, log stores, bike storage and gardens to ensure the scheme encourages residents to access nature, and an on-site kitchen garden and orchard will encourage self-sufficiency. The FarmFolk shop and working space, which will also host community dining, was well received by local residents during a December consultation period.
Jamie Hall, projects director at Hall & Co, said:
Flora Henbury is a completely new concept in sustainable living, with home, workspace and community space co-existing within a tranquil countryside setting.
“It offers a very desirable, unique way of living and working that we know is particularly appealing to the younger generations who are keen to live in closer harmony with nature and are very conscious of their individual impact on the environment.”
Developers, Hall & Co have recently launched a co-working space, ProFolk, in Stockport and are involved in a number of projects in the town centre’s historic Underbanks district.
The Alderley Edge based developers worked with Ollier Smurthwaite Architects on the design.
