Furniture retailer makes £32,000 donation to Cheshire hospital

Designer furniture retailer, Arighi Bianchi, has donated £32,000 worth of items to Crewe’s Leighton Hospital to create a wellbeing room for staff.

The Macclesfield based retailer has provided a range of furniture including leather armchairs and tables, as well as wall art to the hospital to create a comfortable rest area for staff to use before or after shifts, or to take breaks, to help them relax. Wellbeing rooms have been designed to help hospital staff enjoy time away from busy, and often pressurised office and clinical work environments.

Arighi Bianchi’s Director Nick Bianchi said:

NHS staff have worked tirelessly over recent months to keep us and our families safe.

“It’s important that we also do what we can to look after them, which is why we are pleased to support the hospital’s wellbeing rooms and help to make them comfortable and relaxing environments.”

James Sumner, Chief Executive of Mid Cheshire Hospitals, which manages the Leighton Hospital, said:

We have been overwhelmed by the support from the local community throughout the coronavirus pandemic and would like to thank everyone at Arighi Bianchi for this incredibly generous donation.

“Coronavirus has undoubtedly put a strain on our staff and so it’s important we help them as much as we can to rest, rehydrate and refuel. This donation has allowed us to set up new or improved areas to help us do this and is already making a difference and being appreciated by our colleagues.”

The Macclesfield retailer has previously donated furniture to Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital to create wellbeing spaces for staff working there during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has now created 17 wellbeing rooms across its facilities it manages in Crewe, Northwich and Winsford, where staff can also access information on support services available.
